Swimming pool prices compared by make, model and style - Concrete, Vinyl & Fiberglass
Fiberglass Swimming Pool Prices
The basic cost of a new swimming pool installation only represents between 75-80% of the actual final cost. This is moderately higher than similar vinyl and concrete pools because there are less possible overall options due to the simple construction of these pools. Still the high upfront cost combined with these additional upgrade considerations, fiberglass pools are priced higher than vinyl liner and similar to concrete pools.
Most swimming pool contractors will quote a pool price that does not include many items that you will likely want to add:
- A pool heater ($2000-$4000)
- A concrete deck around the pool ($3000-$5000)
- Pool lights ($200-$800)
- Pool Stairs(n/a)
- Safety covers($1500-$3000)
- Maintenance poles, vacuum kits etc($500+)
As with concrete and vinyl liner swimming pools many of the upgrades to the mechanical and filtration system are universal and share similar overall costs:
- A salt water chlorine generator($1500-$2500)
- A cartridge filter($500-$800)
- Stamped, coloured or aggregate deck ($2000-$4000)
- Ozone, ionizer, UV etc.($1000-$2000 each)
- Solar heating ($1500-$3000)
- Winter cover($200-$400)
- Start up chemicals ($200-$400)
Many of the luxury item upgrades to vinyl lined and concrete pools are not available for fiberglass pool installations. This helps to reduce overall cost however this can also limit your design possibilities.
- Automatic floor cleaning systems (n/a)
- Vanishing or negative edge features (n/a)
- Waterfalls ($2000-$5000)
- Automation systems ($5000-$10,000)
- Stone coping ($3500-$8000)
- Automatic safety covers ($12,000-$20,000)
- Attached hot tubs ($8000-$15000)
- LED or fiber optic lighting ($500-$2000)
- Laminar deck jets / water features ($1000+)
Additionally the installation costs of a fiberglass pool are lower given the very short and simple installation process. This saves much of the skilled labour cost and allows less skilled installers to complete the process which is why building contractors are purchasing and installing more fiberglass pools than ever before as they can complete the install themselves instead of subcontracting a skilled pool installation crew.
