Swimming pool prices compared by make, model and style - Concrete, Vinyl & Fiberglass
Concrete Swimming Pool Prices
When shopping for a concrete pool you will have quality and luxury in mind. The best swimming pools built in the world are built using concrete. Still, it is worth considering, that for a given budget you can create a vinyl pool atmosphere nearly equal to that of a concrete pool for substantially less.
If you can afford any pool and options that you want then you can not do any better than a well built concrete pool.
The upgrade costs for this type of pool are more expensive than any other pool as are the maintenance and repair costs. When a concrete pool is built and maintained well it may cost more to renovate than a vinyl lined pool but it will require major repairs and renovation much less often than a vinyl pool. As with other pool price quotes most swimming pool contractors will quote a pool price that does not include many items that you may want to add:
- A pool heater ($2000-$4000)
- A concrete deck around the pool ($3000-$5000)
- Pool lights ($400-$1200)
- Pool Stairs($1500-$5000)
- Safety covers($1500-$3000)
- Maintenance poles, vacuum kits etc($500+)
Many of the following upgrades to a concrete pool will have the same cost as similar vinyl liner or fiberglass pool upgrades since they use the same products regardless of pool construction material.
- A salt water chlorine generator($1500-$2500)
- A cartridge filter($500-$800)
- Stamped, coloured or aggregate deck ($2000-$4000)
- Ozone, ionizer, UV etc.($1000-$2000 each)
- Solar heating ($1500-$3000)
- Winter cover($200-$400)
- Start up chemicals ($200-$400)
The luxury item upgrade costs for a concrete pool are where you will notice the most dramatic cost increase over a vinyl liner pool installation. Many of these items require expert skill and installers to incorporate into your swimming pool. This additional labour and material cost at each step of the construction of your concrete pool adds up quickly.
- Automatic floor cleaning systems ($8000-$14,000)
- Vanishing or negative edge features ($17,000-$30,000)
- Waterfalls ($2000-$5000+)
- Automation systems ($5000-$10,000)
- Stone / stamped coping ($3500-$8000)
- Automatic safety covers ($15,000-$25,000)
- Attached hot tubs ($25,000-$50,000)
- LED or fiber optic lighting ($500-$2000)
- Laminar deck jets / water features ($1000+)
- Upgrade interior finish colour quartz ($3000+)
- Glass tile upgrade ($1500-$5000)
A relatively small concrete pool installation with an attached hot tub, automatic swimming pool safety cover and some upgrades to the mechanical and plumbing system could and would cost up to and over $150,000. With more options such as negative edge and waterfalls you could spend up to a quarter of a million dollars on your backyard inground concrete swimming pool.
